Melik is one of the most revered portrait artists of the 20th Century and this painting was unveiled at New York City Hall in 1935 . Governor George Clinton was one of the Founding Fathers in American history, serving as New York’s 1st and longest-serving Governor in U.S history until 2015. He served as Vice President under Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, holding the record for the most vice-presidential votes in U.S. history and was part of the first 6 US Elections. Clinton was a delegate of the Continental Congress and served as Brigadier General with close ties to George Washington.
