Single-seat Gloster biplane fighter The Sea Gladiator was in production since 1938 and was the naval version of the Gladiator land fighter. The deck version differed from the land version by a reinforced lower wing, modified equipment, a landing hook and a rescue boat in a fairing under the fuselage. A total of 60 Gloster Sea Gladiators were produced between December 1938 and February 1939, and another 38 aircraft were obtained by converting land fighter modifications.
