Description

From one generation…see about the owner below! This stunning & dainty hand-painted dish & saucer set is a rare set from 1932 (2 points at the bottom of the sign – see below about Thomas Bavaria markings). Vibrant gorgeous cobalt blue & gold pattern with gold trim. The bottom of each piece all contain the maker mark for THOMAS BAVARIA, a partner/subsidiary of Rosenthal. There is an artist’s stamp, which reads "HANDGEMALT" (or hand-painted). Although the artists stamps ("Entwurf" or “design” & Erich Haselhuhn) are not on this set, it is likely E. (Erich) Haselhuhn who designed these pieces based on the hand-painted stamp of "handgemalt." Dimensions: Candy Dish: 9.5” long x 5.75” wide 6 Saucers (small plates): 3-3/16” diameter About THOMAS BAVARIA fine China: Fritz Thomas founded the Porzellanfabrik Thomas & Ens in Marktredwitz in 1904 in the German Franconian region. Already in 1908 the firm was taken over by Rosenthal. In 1960 the production in Marktredwitz was discontinued. The new plant at Kulm in Speichersdorf was opened as a replacement. It is still under the roof of the Rosenthal Group. All items have been his or his wife’s, which they had collected since young ages (some well over 30-40 years ago) OR passed down from their parents. I will be listing these when time allows. Since I have a fulltime career, please keep checking back. Prior to moving they lived in an air-conditioned & smoke-free home, but with “feline friends” for those worried about allergies. Most of the items I will sell in bulk for ease on my end & for potential retailers! Please ask questions…I may have something you are looking for! Please look at all pictures as part of the description. I will do my best to describe, however I am only human. Please work with me to sort out any issue beforehand. Thank you for looking!
